The following CORE TRUTHS have helped me and others re-anchor in the truth of Christ, and find peace in any storm.

A man meditating calmly in a storm, as lightning flashes across the sky.

“The scriptures teach us that Satan desires to lead people into darkness. His every effort is to shut out the light and truth of Jesus Christ and His gospel. As Lehi taught his children, the devil ‘seeketh that all men might be miserable like unto himself.’ If Heavenly Father’s ‘work and … glory’ is ‘to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of men and women,’ Lucifer’s ‘work’ is to bring to pass the misery and endless woe of God’s children. Sin and transgression dim the Light of Christ in our lives. That is why our quest is to bask in the Light of Christ, which brings peace, joy, and happiness.’ - (Elder Ballard - General Conference April 2019)

As you scale the mountain of life to become, the Devil creates “mists of darkness” (1 Ne 8:23), sends “shafts in the whirlwind” (Hel. 5:12), and “fiery darts” (1 Ne 15:24), roaring that your experiences with weakness, pain and fear define you as worthless, incapable, helpless - a victim. “Hold fast” to the “word of God” (1 Ne 15:24), rise up as on “eagles wings” and enjoy the “most precious and desirable fruit… even the greatest gift of God” (1 Ne 15:36).

You are a Child of Heavenly Parents. “All of you are children of the most-high” (Psalms 82:6) “offspring of God” (Acts 17:29) and “joint-heirs with Christ” (Romans 8:15-17) even “children of God” (Alma 6:6), free to “receive all that my Father hath.” (D&C 84:33-39).

You are Loved. God “loveth our souls” (Alma 24:14) and “loved us first” (1 John 4:19) with an “everlasting love” (Jeremiah 31:3), that “passeth knowledge” (Eph. 3:19) and “gave his only begotten son” (John 3:16), who “la[id] down his life for his friends” (John 15:13) and has “graven [us] upon the palms of [his] hands” (Isaiah 49:14-17) for we cannot be “separated from the love of Christ” (Romans 8:35).

You are of Great Worth. The “worth of souls is great in the sight of God” (D&C 18:10-15/Mosiah 28:3) for you are “precious” (Psalms 49:8/Jacob 2:21) even “more precious than fine gold” (Isaiah 13:12) and “bought with a price” (1 Cor. 6:20) yea, the blood of the Lamb who bled at every pore.” (D&C 19:18). You cannot grow or shrink your worth. Your worth is set by God. Period.

You are Here to Choose. God sent us here to “to prove [us] herewith” (Abraham 3:25-26) and see if we would “choose… to serve the Lord” (Joshua 24:15) and “choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life” (2 Nephi 10:23) and choose Him again. You have inherited the “glorious liberty of the children of God” (Rom. 8:21) therefore “cheer up your hearts” (2 Ne. 10:23) for “God hath made you free… to act for yourselves… that you might chose life or death” (Hel. 14:30/Moses 7:32).

You have a Great Treasure in Store. Christ has prepared an “eternal weight of glory” (2 Cor 4:16-18) and desires to bless us with “all that the father hath” (D&C 84:38) including the “things of this earth, even an hundred fold, yea more” (D&C 78:19) for there are “many mansions” in God’s kingdom (John 14:2) and “eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, nor either have entered into the heart of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love him” (1st Cor 2:9) and “receive all things with thankfulness” (D&C 78:19).

You were Born to Shine. You were born to “shine forth” (Alma 40:25/ Phil. 2:15) as “children of light” (1 Thess. 5:5) to be “the light of the world” (Matt. 5:14), to “grow brighter and brighter until the perfect day” (D&C 50:24) until “your whole body… [is] filled with light” (D&C 88:67) and to “chase darkness from you” so that “when he shall appear, we shall be like him… and see him as he is” (1st John 3:2).

You Can Walk on The Water. He who divided the Red Sea through Moses (Exodus 14:19-31), and “walked on the water” (Matt 14:29) invites you to “work mighty miracles” in his name (Mosiah 8:18) “even greater works than these” (John 14:12-15) and command even the “wind and the trees, mountains and the waves of the sea” to obey you. (Jacob 4:6).

You Can Know Christ. You are “a noble and great one” (Abraham 3:22) preserved for “such a time as this” (Esther 4: 14) and as you “succor the weak, lift up the hands that hang down and strengthen the feeble knees” (D&C 81:5) you help God with his “work and glory” (Moses 1:39) and will have “eternal life” (John 17:3) and “see [His] face and know that he is” (D&C 93:1).
